The wait is almost over. A chrysalis hangs from the main nook of this mug, gone black and clear as glass, with the orange and black of folded wings showing through, just hours from emerging. The green milkweed leaves around it are scattered with tiny monarch eggs, and a small yellow caterpillar, recently hatched, crawls across the top of a leaf. On the back, a hand-sculpted milkweed flower is close to full bloom, the plant that makes the whole story possible.
Monarch caterpillars can only eat milkweed, and females lay their eggs only on it. Every egg on this mug is a reminder of why planting it matters.

Mug holds approximately 15 oz of your favorite beverage. Mug measures 3.25” wide at mouth and 4.25” tall. Chrysalis measures approximately 1” tall and .5” wide. Each piece is handmade, making each unique and one of a kind. Bottom has maker’s stamp and individual piece number 020-26.
All glazes are lead free and food safe. Hand-washing recommended.
